Terms and Conditions
The aims of these Terms and Conditions is to ensure the high standard is maintained and to ensure safe teaching practice and an enjoyable experience for all students enrolled.
All fees must be paid in full at the beginning of each term or camp. This policy is in place to encourage commitment and aims to lessen the disruption of students joining and missing classes at different times. Continuous attendance is an invaluable aspect to creating class morale and team-work. If an arrangement is made between the school and a student to pay in installments, this arrangement must be adhered to and the full term fee must be paid before the end of each term, regardless of missed classes. Delay in payment may result in the loss of a place within the chosen class. Please note that it is school policy to contact the parents if a young person misses more than two consecutive lessons. All feedback is appreciated.
It is the parents'/guardians' responsibility to drop-off and pick-up their children safely. Please have a clear arrangement with your son/daughter. It is advisable to text the teacher if you are running late. Please note that a phone call and/or voicemail will not be answered during class time. This ensures full attention is given to the class present.
Repeated late collection will not be adhered to and may result in the loss of your son/daughter's place in the school.
If a student is late for class or not properly attired (see below) this may result in non-participation. This is a health and safety issue. Warming up at the beginning of class is imperative for preparing the mind and body for the the class to follow.
Proper attire:
Karate: A black Karate suit (Gi), black-rubber soled canvas Kung-Fu shoes (these shoes must not be worn on the street, but brought to class and changed into prior to lesson), groin protector and gum-shield, (if participating in technique line up).
Tai Chi: Club t-shirt or sweatshirt, Kung-Fu pants, black-rubber soled Kung-Fu shoes ( these shoes must not be worn on the street, but brought to class and changed into prior to lesson).
Summer Camp: Loose comfortable clothing or summer camp t-shirt.
All correct attire can be purchased/ordered from the studio. Please contact the studio for more details or to clarify.
Martial Arts for Life takes a healthy approach to its participation. Sweets, crisps and fizzy drinks are not encouraged within the school. Students may bring their own bottled water.
Personal property is not the responsibility of Martial Arts for Life. Please ensure your name is on all property brought into the school. Whilst we do provide a Lost Property facility, any unclaimed property is donated to local charities at the end of the school year.
Using video footage is an integral aspect of teaching and learning Martial Arts. This footage is deleted after use and/or kept in a locked box in between uses. Martial Arts for Life performances may be recorded for educational and promotional use. Please inform the school if you do not wish to include your son/daughter in these performances.
Photographs of Martial Arts for Life events, performance and classes may be used for educational and promotional use. Please notify the school if you do not permit you son/daughter to participate.
Payment is accepted in cheque or cash form. Please note we do not have laser or credit card facilities in the school.
It is not school policy to provide refunds once a student has secured a place in a class. Students are encouraged to watch a class. This is to ensure the student is fully aware of what a class entails.
If a student misses part of term but wishes to retain their place, the full term fee must be paid for. Failure to do so may result in the loss of a place in the chosen class.
From time to time the Martial Arts for Life may invite guest or substitute teachers to teach in the school. These teachers will be trained to a high standard, and screened by the principal.
